In-Person Therapy

In-person therapy in Mount Pleasant, SC

Some people want therapy to be a place they go: a quiet room, the same therapist across from them, and time set apart from everything else. Our Mount Pleasant office is that place. If you’re looking for a therapist in Mount Pleasant, SC, our marriage and family therapists see individuals, couples, families, children, and teens here, a short drive over the Ravenel Bridge from downtown Charleston.

Why Come In

When being in the same room helps

Online therapy works well, and we offer it. Some people still find it easier to settle in after they’ve left the house, parked, and walked into a room set aside for this one thing. For some couples and families, sharing a room also makes it easier to slow a hard conversation down.

A room set apart

No laundry in the corner, no kids down the hall, no phone lighting up on the desk. For 45 minutes, the only thing on the agenda is what you came to talk about.

Everyone in one room

Couples and families share one room, and your therapist can see how each person reacts in the moment. That’s harder to catch when everyone is in a separate box on a screen.

You don't have to choose

Both of our therapists also meet by video. On a week when work is swamped, a child is home sick, or the day got away from you, meet online instead and pick up where you left off.

What to Expect

What coming in looks like

01

Choosing a time

After a few questions about what you’re working on and when you’re free, you’ll see which of our therapists fits and book a time directly. If you’d rather talk it through first, call us at (843) 259-2145.

02

Arriving

Give yourself a few extra minutes the first time, so you’re not rushing in from the car. Most people feel a little nervous before a first session. That’s normal, and it usually eases once the conversation starts.

03

The session

Sessions run 45 minutes. The first one is mostly about what brought you in and what you’d like to be different. You don’t need a diagnosis, a plan, or the right words. If your child is the one coming in, Savannah Jennings usually meets with the parents first to hear your concerns and learn about your family.

04

Between sessions, and switching

Some weeks, coming in just doesn’t work. Those weeks, you can meet by video instead: the same therapist, with nothing to re-explain. You can go back and forth between the two as your weeks change.

From Our Practice

A profile tells you a lot about a therapist, and the first session tells you the rest. Fit is the part we care most about getting right.

Where is your Mount Pleasant office?
913 Bowman Road, Suite 104, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464, near Johnnie Dodds Boulevard (US 17) and I-526. From downtown Charleston, it’s a short drive over the Ravenel Bridge. You can reach us at (843) 259-2145.
Is there parking?
Yes, there’s parking in the lot in front of the office. And if getting here is ever what stands between you and a session, both of our therapists also meet online.
Where do I go when I arrive?
Look for the Suite 104 door at 913 Bowman Road, with our logo on the front window. We share the suite and its waiting area with Lowcountry Psychiatric Group, a separate practice, so you’ll see their name on the window alongside ours.
What if I need an accommodation to get to the office?
Call us at (843) 259-2145 before your first visit, whether you use a wheelchair, have trouble with stairs, or need something else, and we’ll talk through getting to the suite. Both of our therapists also see clients online anywhere in South Carolina, with the same therapist and the same session length.
Who will I see at the office?
Jan Stone Allen, MA, LMFT, or Savannah Jennings, M.Ed., LMFTA. Jan works with adults, couples, families, and teens 13 and older. Savannah works mostly with families, and also sees children as young as five, teens, adults, and couples, including premarital counseling. We’ll help you choose based on who’s coming in and what you’re working on.
Do you see children and teens at the office?
Yes. Savannah Jennings works with children as young as five, often through play, and usually meets with parents first. Younger children are seen here in person, and teens can also meet by video. Jan Stone Allen sees teens 13 and older, usually alongside work with their parents. Our child and teen therapy page has more on how that works.
How much does therapy cost?
Individual therapy is $150–$175 per session, and couples and family therapy is $175–$200, depending on the therapist. Online sessions cost the same. We’re an out-of-network practice: you pay at the time of the session, we file the claims with your insurance for you, and we accept HSA and FSA cards. Our payment page has the details.
Do you take insurance?
We don’t bill insurance directly. Many plans include out-of-network benefits for mental health care, and we file the claims on your behalf so you can be reimbursed. Check your out-of-network coverage before your first session.
Can I switch between in-person and online sessions?
Yes, in either direction. Meet by video on a busy week and in the office when you’d like to be in the room. It’s the same therapist either way. For a video session, you’ll need to be in South Carolina at the time.
How long and how often are sessions?
Sessions run 45 minutes, and most people meet weekly at first. As things improve, you and your therapist adjust the rhythm together.
What if I'm not sure what kind of therapy I need?
That’s the usual starting point. You don’t need a diagnosis or a preferred method. Tell us what’s going on, whether it’s a relationship, a child who’s struggling, anxiety, or a big change, and we’ll help you decide which therapist fits. You can read how therapy works with us first, or contact us with a question.

A first session is a conversation, and you decide where it goes from there.

The short version

  • The only place this website collects personal information is the appointment scheduling assistant — and only what you choose to share there.
  • We use two analytics tools to understand what gets read: Google Analytics (which sets this site’s only cookies) and Ahrefs Analytics (which sets none). Neither is connected to advertising.
  • We don’t run ad trackers, social media pixels, or remarketing. We don’t sell or share your information for advertising. There are no forms quietly collecting your details.
  • Questions, or want something corrected or deleted?

What this policy covers

This policy covers this website — therapistsincharleston.com. It is not the privacy notice for therapy itself: if you become a client, your care is protected by federal and state health-privacy law, and you’ll receive our Notice of Privacy Practices as part of getting started. Nothing you read or click on this website creates a therapy relationship.

What we collect, and why

What you send us. If you email us, call us, or use the scheduling assistant (the “Make Appointment” button), we receive what you choose to share — typically your name, contact details, and what you’re looking for. We use it for exactly one purpose: responding to you and arranging care. The scheduling assistant is operated for us by WithTherapy, our scheduling provider, and the information you enter there goes to our practice and to the systems we use to manage appointments.

How the site gets used. Like most websites, we use analytics to understand which pages people read and where visitors come from — that’s how we decide what to write next. Google Analytics sets this site’s only cookies (named _ga and _ga_RW4TVC82PJ) and collects usage data such as pages visited, approximate location, and device type. We have Google’s advertising and cross-site features turned off. Ahrefs Analytics collects similar aggregate usage data and sets no cookies at all.

Accessibility preferences. The accessibility widget (accessiBe) lets you adjust how the site displays. If you use it, it stores your display preferences in your browser so they hold between visits.

Author photos. The small author photo on our articles is served by Gravatar, so your browser requests that image from Gravatar’s servers when an article loads. It sets no cookies and receives nothing you type.

What we don’t do

  • No advertising trackers, conversion pixels, or social media buttons.
  • No remarketing — we will never follow you around the internet.
  • No selling, renting, or sharing your information for advertising, ever.
  • No comment forms, pop-up surveys, or newsletter capture.
  • Reading about a topic here tells us nothing about who you are — analytics reaches us as aggregate counts, not identified people.

Cookies

This site sets two cookies, both from Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_RW4TVC82PJ), used to distinguish visits in aggregate statistics. You can block or delete them in your browser settings without affecting how the site works, or use Google’s opt-out browser add-on. If you use the accessibility widget, your display preferences are stored in your own browser, not sent to us.

Your choices and rights

You can browse this site without providing any personal information at all. If you have shared something with us — through the scheduling assistant, by email, or by phone — you can ask us what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to . We’ll respond to reasonable requests promptly. Deletion requests may be limited where health-record or other law requires us to retain information.

Security and children

We use standard protections — encrypted connections (HTTPS) everywhere, and reputable providers for hosting and scheduling — and we limit what we collect in the first place, which is the best protection there is. We work with children and teens, but this website is written for adults, including parents looking for care for their child. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

When this policy changes, we’ll update it here and change the effective date at the top. We won’t quietly expand what we collect.
